After launching its first tablet-style device almost seven years ago, Nokia has stepped into the tablet segment once again with the launch of the Nokia T20 tablet in the market. It is a device that looks premium, packing various high-level features to compete with the latest and greatest on the market today. The device is also the company’s first Android-based tablet. So before we move on to its price and availability, let’s take a quick look at its design and key specs.
Nokia T20 Tablets launched
Design and Display
Starting with the design, the Nokia T20 tablet, which is reminiscent of the latest Nokia smartphones, has a familiar design. It has soft, rounded corners and edges, and a clean rear panel with only the single-camera module and Nokia branding at its center. The device weighs 465g and is 7.8mm thick.
On the front, the Nokia T20 boasts a 10.4-inch IPS LCD panel with a maximum resolution of 2000 x 1200p (2K). It’s also covered with tougher glass, according to Nokia. However, the company did not mention any brand name on it. In addition, the display will have a brightness boost feature that will enable it to reach its peak brightness of 400 nits.
Cameras and Interiors
Now, it’s worth mentioning that the display has a bit of a bezel around it. However, when you think about it, you will need a little space to hold the device without disturbing the touch-sensitive display. Moreover, the front selfie and webcam are in the top bezel in the landscape orientation. Speaking of cameras, the Nokia T20 has a single 8MP camera and LED flash inside the rear camera module.
Under the hood, the device packs the Unisoc T610 processor, which is an octa-core processor consisting of two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. The chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There is also a dedicated SD card slot to expand the internal storage to 512GB.
As for the battery, the Nokia T20 comes with a massive 8,200mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. However, it is worth mentioning that users will not be able to charge the device at its maximum capacity with the 10W loaded adapter that is in the box. According to Nokia, the device can deliver up to 10 hours of movie playback and 15 hours of web surfing on a single charge.
Apart from these, there is a USB-C port for charging and data transfer and also a 3.5mm audio jacket. It also comes with a stereo speaker arrangement combined with Nokia’s OZO Audio technology. While the device does not have a fingerprint scanner, it does provide a face unlock for authentication.
The Android 11 device will run out of the box and come in a single color option called Deep Ocean. Nokia says the T20 tablet will receive 2 years of major Android updates and 3 years of monthly security updates. So it will be upgraded to Android 12 which recently started rolling out to global users. In addition, the device will come with Google Kids Space and Google Entertainment Space out of the box.
Price and Availability
Now, coming to the price of the device, the Nokia T20 will start at £ 179.99 (~ Rs 18,311) for the Wi-Fi only version and will go up to £ 199.99 (~ Rs 20,346) for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. It is currently available to pre-order and will start launching from October 11. In addition, customers who pre-order will receive 50% off on the Rugged Case and Rugby Flip Covers of the Nokia T20.
Unfortunately, there are no words about whether or not Nokia will bring the device to India. However, as the company is expanding at a rapid pace in India, we can expect the company to put its foot into the tablet segment in the country.
