Microsoft begins rolling out a new Windows 11 paint app to Insiders in the Dev Channel

Microsoft is starting to roll out the Windows 11 Restore Paint App for Windows Insiders

Following the unveiling of Windows 11 earlier this year, Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer Panos Panay shared a teaser video to showcase the revamped Paint app last month. Now, before the next release of Windows OS is released next month, Microsoft is rolling out the new Paint app to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.

The Redmond giant recently shared an official blog post to announce the rollout of the app. So, according to the post, the new Paint app is currently available for the Insiders running the Dev build of Windows 11 but it still lacks a few features like Dark Mode and centralized canvas.

However, the new Paint app brings tons of design changes to the new Windows 11 design language. These include an updated UI, rounded corners, Mica, and many more.

One of the most important changes in the new Paint app is the revamped toolbar that now comes with updated icons, an accurate color palette, and new drop-down menus for brushes, stroke size, and flip / rotate options. In addition, there is a new text tool (with an “A” icon) that allows users to add custom texts to their own shape in the app itself.

Now that it’s available, the new Paint app is currently being rolled out to Windows Insiders. While the app lacks some new features, Microsoft says it will add the dark theme, centralized canvas, and updated dialogs for future updates. The company will further enhance the app based on user feedback before releasing it to the public.
